Michelle Knight (b. 1996) is an emerging contemporary artist based in Leicester, UK.
Her work explores the assembling of colourful, abstract compositions. Each painting consists of many layers to build a story, inviting the viewer to interpret it in their own way. The work presented bends, twists and flexes to fit a need or a purpose in any desired space.
Working mainly in acrylics, the application of paint depends on consistency and weight of the colour to emulate dimension. Transparent marks can be washed over thicker blocks in order to indicate depth of field. The intricate lines and mark-making pay homage to incoherent childhood drawings, which are interlocked with current emotions experienced as an adult.
